The Brian “Bubba” Kapko Foundation raised $7,500 at the fourth annual Bub-A-Que on June 14. Brian Kapko, who was an Estancia High School football player, died in a car accident his freshman year of college in 2005. Since then his family has raised money for the foundation established in his memory.

The money goes to the organizations Brian was involved in, the Estancia High School football team, the high school’s new stadium and the First Lighthouse Church. Two fundraisers are held each year for the foundation.

Brian’s friends and family and other people in the community gathered at Angel Stadium tailgating before the game, having catered food from the Newport Rib Company.

“We do the Bub-A-Que because it’s everything Brian enjoyed,” his father Rick Kapko said.

Tickets were sold at $50 with 150 total tickets. Brian’s family covered all the expenses so that all the money could go toward the foundation.
